Embroidered Bag

One of the projects I had hoped to get done for the Gardiner's Company Store at Holiday Fair was an embroidered bag (or several bags). I hadn't got the knack of the embroidery stitches in time to get it done, but I made some progress on the first one today. The outline is done with a reverse chain stitch, and the fill is done with a detached buttonhole stitch.

The detached buttonhole stitch could be better in places, but given it is my first project using it, I'm happy with how it is coming out so far. Some areas of the outline were rough (mostly the head), but I think it's partly because of the pattern.

The bags are roughly based on some period examples such as the one at http://www.mfa.org/collections/object/drawstring-bag-46491
